Japanese designer Yanagi died in Tokyo at age of...
The butterfly stool, designed by Sori Yanagi, a pioneer of Japan’s industrial design, is shown. Yanagi, whose stools and kitchen pots brought the simplicity and purity of Japanese design into the everyday, has died of pneumonia in a Tokyo hospital Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, his Yanagi Design Office said Monday, Dec. 26. He was 96.
